Thank You for Helping My Dad’s Paintings Find Their Audience

Quietly in Bloom has closed, and I am still taking it all in.

I was so touched by everyone who came to the reception. Thank you for coming, for staying, and for looking so closely at my dad’s paintings. For years I had hoped to see his work in a room full of people talking about it. On that evening it finally happened, and it meant more to me than I can say.

Thank you too to everyone who couldn’t be there but sent messages and good wishes. Every one of them reached me, and every one of them mattered.

I also want to thank Arthur Wong, who curated the exhibition with such care and understanding of my dad’s work, and the Hong Kong Fringe Club for giving his paintings such a special home for the week.

Most importantly, his work is no longer kept quietly at home. For many years these paintings were stored away and seen by almost no one. Now anyone, anywhere, can see them. The paintings from the exhibition are on the On Exhibition page, and there is a short film from the week below.

If you missed the show, I hope you’ll take a look. If you came, I hope you’ll come back and find a favourite. And if you know someone who would love his work, please share it with them.

My dad painted for his family. Thank you for helping his paintings find a much bigger one.

Candice
